And sometimes its invisibility is a blessing. To love a swamp, however, is to love what is muted and marginal, what exists in the shadows, what shoulders its way out of mud and scurries along the damp edges of what is most commonly praised. Although both the words are intimately linked to each other, they are also complimentary to each another. The title is beautifully engraved with two blooming words- “shadow” and “darkness”. The only issue is that there are some minor errors, but I totally recommend this book. The story shows the importance of sharing these things with loved ones and also the process of healing is shown.

Most of the people who go through such phases try to avoid the reality by keeping their thoughts to themselves, they fear to share and in the process rage a storm inside them for a long time and finally when it explodes, the consequences have to be faced. Almost every character of the story I liked, and the book shows the development quest of a terrified child to grow up to a confident and happy woman.Īnother thing that I like about the book is that it deals with a topic that we do not want to discuss about, that is, trauma and depression. Rajat is so understanding and supportive, both as a husband as well as a father. I really loved the relationship shared by Maya and Rajat. The writing style is smooth and fast paced and the book thus becomes almost unputdownable after some pages. The story deals with various stages and phases of the life of Sejal and the hardships faced by her parents in a beautiful way. But except her best friend, Diya, the world is oblivious to this other Sejal. But despite all these, her five year old self is still hidden somewhere at a corner of her heart who makes her existence known through the nightmares that crumble her self time and again and makes her feel vulnerable. Sejal is a girl who has grown up to be a confident and helpful young lady, inspired by her mother, Maya, who herself is a headstrong and respectable woman in the society.

It deals with a grave and serious topic, that is childhood trauma and its effects.

The plot of the story is quite unique and interesting.
